There are nine members of the Commission drawn from a range of
employee, employer and academic backgrounds. All the Commissioners
serve in an individual capacity and not as representatives of the
organisations for which they work. The Commission is chaired by Sir George Bain.

He chaired the Low Pay Commission from 1997
until 2002. He chaired the recently completed Independent Review
on the Location of Public Sector jobs. An academic who has engaged
extensively in public services. In 2005-06 in Northern Ireland he
chaired the Legal Services Review and the Independent Strategic
Review of Education. |
